With Mint leaving to travel the Asian-Pacific world next month, we decided to hit the track as a collective before he departs for a year. So we made it count.
As usual, the day started at 7am when we all departed our homes to meet up before heading down the road. Mr D opted to bring his mx5 on a trailer, since he didnt have enough time to get his 1.6 eunos registered on the road.
The drive down to Driftland was an adventure itself, with the cars already starting to lose aero on the road.
It sure has been a while since everyone has driven their rides. But first lap was already full of intensity..
with D brake checking Pete, and Pete brake checking Mint, resulting in a nudge which killed Pete’s exhaust.
After some pointless hammering, which was a waste of time. The exhaust was removed and the fun resumed.
Mint and Pete were slowly gaining trust in each others sketchy driving
After a while, Mr D got into the groove of things and was getting onto some doors.
Everything was going exceptionally well until Mints pressure plate decided to give up mid gear change, which put him out of action for the rest of the day.
After a few hours of attempting to get Mint back out on track and failing, Pete & Mr D went back out to explode more aero.
Some contact here and there resulted in Pete driving over his BN front bumper in a spectacular fashion. More aero shedding followed straight after.
A good amount of pink aero parts littered the track at the end of the day, which were kindly returned by the track staff. Cheers dudes!
Drive back home was also eventful. Mint drove the JZX without an option for a clutch, where at one point Mr D had to jump out from his car and give Mint a push at a crowded junction to get the bus moving again.
Pete on the other hand had full functionality of his Altezza, but lack of mechanical problems was substituted by constant suffocation by exhaust gases due to lack of the said exhaust. Lets not forget 3 hours of dragging aero.
All in, it was an extremely fun day. Everyone was working on getting each others cars back on track so the fun can continue.
Special thanks to Connor Mathieson of T-Works Automotive and Dori-Labs for providing the snaps. Check them out on Facebook. And thanks to Driftland dudes for putting up with us throughout the day.
Video footage by Thacko from the day will follow shortly. Stay tuned
