After a long ass time away from the blog, we are back at it again! We are still gonna bring you all the action we get involved with through the year but this year we also wanted to bring you the people behind the cars we feature and also the people who have inspired us in the car game.
After conversations between myself and Mint we knew who we wanted to showcase and so over the coming months we will delve into their own garages and collections to bring to you guys the reason behind their influence on Minty.Fresh over the years.
Our first stop is at long time supporter of Minty.Fresh and owner of the world famous Als Car Stuff Blog – Alan Brodie . Before I headed over to Al’s, Mint had told me he had quite a collection of magazines but nothing had prepared me for the amount Al actually has!
The shelves above house literally hundreds, if not thousands of car related literature and not just JDM stuff.
Original and according to Al “the best fast cars”
Classic and sports car
Car and Car Conversation’s going back to around 1998!
Al also collects Race and Rally, this particular issue is from 1992
Autosport special edition
And hundreds of Super Street magazines, some in the original packaging, I asked Al why they were still wrapped up, he said that Super Street kept sending him 2 for his subscription so he just read one copy and kept the other in the wrapping
Now onto the JDM stuff, the first issue of Jtuner. Remember that? well Al has EVERY copy of the magazine that the published
VTEC sports mag, rare outside Japan
Club Skyline magazine
And a super rare edition of a Mugen RR magazine which was released with a promo DVD of the car
Now when Mint has been out in Japan, he knows that Al always appreciates a nice magazine, so what better than Nostalgic Hero!
And the bible for any JDM civic owner, the Hyper Revs books!
Al also has a fine collection of books
The Speedhunters book takes pride of place
Next to a book which Al bought on ebay
Mint was totally in love with it, its all about the Bozusuka gangs and their motorbikes
There are countless other things we could have shown you but this was only part of the tour!
We moved on to Al’s DVD collection and his office
Al’s DVD collection isn’t quite as big as his magazines but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for itself in quality!
Super rare Civic parts dvd catalogue, for when it wasn’t popular to search online for parts haha
Some Best Of Motoring’s
The always popular Initial D DVD’s also populate the shelf
But the ones to look out for are these
And AE86 Hot Version! super balling DVD action
Not into Hatchis??? Then why not watch the Drift Tendoku DVD’s
But the one that caught my eye was the Option UKD1 Dvd
Look who is on the back!
Which ties us in neatly with a picture board Al has in his lobby
Al and his missus Simone were there at Silverstone when the Japanese guys came to the UK
She even got her picture taken with Keichi!!
But back to Al’s office and the parts of previous cars are still about
B series Rocker
Coils and Exhaust from his old EG6
Oldskool Race programs??
He also owns a super rare Spoon Sports jacket! You know he is a serious Honda fan when he owns one of these.
His office walls are also a gallery of his own photography work over the years
He also has a cool collection on miniature cars and also an oldskool Minolta camera and lenses
and also inspiration for cars he is currently building
He also knows whats up when it comes to keeping it Fresh!
And so thats where we will end the first part of the tour, In part 2 we will take a look in Al’s garage and also have a look at the cars he owns!
