BDC once again returned to Teesside autodrome for Round 3 of its 6 round competition. We brought you coverage of round 1 and since then the BDC train has moved onto Norfolk Arena where Brian Egan took the semi pro win, Paul Murphy took the Pro win and Steve Moore Took the super pro win, with it being so early into the season it was all to play for ………….
This time round the practice/qualifying fell on the friday due to the team event on sunday so I got down late thursday night for an early start on Friday.
I love the quietness of the pits first thing, all the cars lined up and no noise at all ……….. its super peaceful
But then come 8.30 the place erupts with engines firing up for the first time, the all important tyre machines buzz into life to supply the drivers and cars the tyres for the weekend ahead.
So with the engine oil warm and circulating it was time for the semi pros to hit the track,
Jay White was out in s14a and was making some sweet entries!
Brian Egan was on top form in his hatchi
He would later go onto qualify 1st and gain promotion to the pro class, not really hard to see with angles like this!
Another impressive qualifier was Ricky “Top Gun” Emery in his Toyota Soarer
It lays quite an amazing amount of smoke for only being a semi pro spec car.
Lewis Cracknell qualified second in front of Ricky in his S13
The Pro’s headed out next for qualifying
After Jay Fuller’s mega off at Teesside last time round you would think he would be wary of the course this time round, luckily for us he wasn’t but he was in full attack mode. He qualified second
He even rocked red smoke tyres later on in the weekend!
Marc Huxley was plagued with troubles on the friday afternoon, his fuel rail snapped in two! but he still managed to bust out a few skids, he qualified third
Star of qualifying in pro was definitely Mark Lappage, his Acorn insurance sponsored S13 looked dialled!
The crowd pleasing super pro’s were up last to qualify and after Paul Smith’s heart stopping crash in practice, his S15 was finished for the weekend so he had to borrow Japspeed team-mate Shane Lynch’s V8 TT S15.
He did one sighting lap,one practice lap then busted out a mega run third time round!
He qualified second! unfortunately Shane didnt fair so well and failed to qualify so it left Paul with the V8 for the rest of the weekend.
Steve Moore from Sats Motorsport was on form in his S14a
Laying consistent runs he qualified third for the finals
Shane O’Sullivan was back after missing out on round 2 and he was out to claim the top spot on the podium once again
He looked seriously impressive in qualifying and the judges agreed
He qualified first for the following days battles.
