After a wet Saturday I really prayed for a dry Sunday, I mean come on drifting without smoke is like coffee without milk hella fail!
The weather forecast didn’t look great but I was hopeful that accuweather wasn’t all that accurate lol So after getting past the gate once again I found a much calmer pit!
Some cars were waiting for their masters and enjoying the glimmer of sunlight which started to poke through the clouds
The driver briefing got underway,
one thing that was mentioned was what the judges were looking for, use of the wand for massive entries was being frowned upon, someone personally i agree with however i cant imagine clutch kicking a 1200 bhp supra would be easy!!
With the briefing out-of-the-way it was an open practice which meant the cars which didn’t qualify got one last blast
Jeek from chizfab was out again
as was Kyle until his diff exploded!
The track was starting to dry out which meant by the time the super pros got their practice in, it was smokey business as usual!
Mark Luney and the SATS Supra certainly like smokey exits
Some of the guys used the practice for some twinning, a must if you were fortunate to qualify
Some used the track to destroy some tyres
And so with practice laps under everyone’s belts it was lunch time and with all BDC events it was a chance for all the spectators to go on track and have a look at the cars up close!
Lassa tyres pornstar pink popped in the sunlight!
M+M’s S15 sat looking stupidly awesome!
And so it was onto the battles, now im not gonna list them all cos there were so many
Brian Egan managed to fight his way through the field in Semi Pro and beat rookie Lee Barry to top spot
In Pro class the two PS13’s of Micheal Sheehan and Brian Cotter did battle, even forcing a OMT! these guys were super close
But what do you expect from two friends, Brian did say though if he had to lose to anyone he was glad it was Micheal
The final of the pro class was a hard-fought battle between Christian Lewis and Mark Huxley
Unfortunatly Huxley lost out to Lewis but he did get a second place and the coveted “Hard charger” trophy for his solid driving
But the moment we had all been waiting for had arrived the Super Pro battles.
Steve “Baggsy” Biagioni who hadn’t managed to qualify got a suprise when Brendan Stones oil pump failed on his S15, it meant he would be back out in the top 16
He didn’t waste anytime in getting door to door with anyone he came up against
But he was knocked out by his own team-mate Shane O Sullivan
who went up against Steve Moore in the final
The judges had a hard time separating the two but it was O’Sullivan who came out on top and full points for round 1!
So thats it, round 1 over, Round 2 is at norfolk arena on Friday 1st June.
